MOMENTUM was part of the Urban Mobility Days 2020, which took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the framework of the “Data-driven decision-making tools for small and medium-sized cities” session, Rodric Frederix from Transport & Mobility Leuven presented our project.

The Urban Mobility Days, which attracted around 1400 stakeholders from across Europe and beyond, showcases the recent developments, trends, and research on mobility in urban areas. More than 30 sessions were held between 29 September and 2 October.

The presentation was based on the view of the city of Leuven on the MOMENTUM project, which is one piece of the puzzle of various project engagements of the Belgian university city. Frederix showcased the most important aspects of MOMENTUM in Leuven, including the improvement of traffic planning and the establishment of mobility points.

Furthermore, Leuven also has high ambitions on the enhancement of its traffic models, which will be supported by another EU-funded project; WeCount. It enables citizens to install small devices, which do count passing cars, large vehicles, and active travel modes. This activation of citizens in a co-creation process, which will lead to a MOMENTUM-supported circulation plan helps to increase the life quality of the city.
